Chandigarh, February 10, 2026: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has appealed to the people of Punjab not to be misled by misinformation being spread about the Mukhya Mantri Sehat Yojana. He said the scheme has been launched to provide ₹10 lakh cashless medical treatment to every family in the state.

Addressing citizens through a video message, the Chief Minister said that this flagship welfare initiative aims to ensure direct access to quality healthcare services, especially for the weaker sections of society.

What is Mukhya Mantri Sehat Yojana?

Under the Mukhya Mantri Sehat Yojana, every eligible family in Punjab can avail cashless treatment up to ₹10 lakh per year. The scheme is designed to reduce the financial burden caused by medical emergencies and ensure equal healthcare access.

The government has fixed treatment rates for nearly 2,600 diseases and medical procedures. More information regarding national health policies can be accessed through the official website of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

How to Register for the Scheme?

All government employees, pensioners, and general citizens are eligible for the health card under this scheme. Registration can be completed through Seva Kendras, Common Service Centres (CSC), or online platforms. Citizens may also visit https://www.csc.gov.in/ for further information regarding registration facilities.

Completely Cashless Treatment Process

The Chief Minister clarified that the entire process — from hospital admission, diagnostic tests, surgery, medicines, to discharge — will be fully cashless. Beneficiaries will not have to pay a single rupee at empanelled hospitals.

Hospitals included under the scheme are legally bound to provide treatment at government-approved rates. Payments will be made directly by the state government to the hospitals.

Private Hospitals Also Empanelled

The Punjab government has empanelled a large number of private hospitals to provide wider healthcare access. Even if hospitals charge higher fees to general patients, they must treat beneficiaries under the scheme at fixed government rates.

Warning Against Misinformation

CM Bhagwant Mann stated that certain anti-Punjab elements are deliberately spreading false information about the scheme. He strongly clarified that no beneficiary will be charged any amount and payments will be made directly by the government.

He warned that if any hospital demands money from a beneficiary, strict and exemplary action will be taken. Citizens have been encouraged to immediately report any violation.

A Landmark Healthcare Reform in Punjab

The Chief Minister described the scheme as a historic milestone, making Punjab one of the leading states providing large-scale free healthcare coverage. He said the initiative will significantly reduce out-of-pocket medical expenses and ensure universal healthcare access.
