Winter Olympics: Russian-Georgian figure skater Anastasiia Gubanova has captured global attention not only for her elegant skating skills but also for her distinctive choice of Bollywood music during her performance at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy.
A video of Gubanova’s routine, which blended high-level figure skating with popular Hindi film music, has gone viral on social media, drawing widespread praise, particularly from Indian audiences. Her performance featured a fusion of athletic precision and cultural expression, setting it apart from conventional Olympic routines.
During her skate, Gubanova performed to a specially curated Bollywood mashup. The routine opened with the song San Sanana from the film Ashoka and later transitioned into the high-energy title track of the Bollywood hit Dhurandhar. The seamless shift between the two tracks added drama and rhythm to her performance, earning enthusiastic reactions online.
Adding to the visual appeal, Gubanova wore a red and gold costume complemented by a red bindi, details that many viewers saw as a respectful tribute to Indian culture. Observers also noted that she incorporated elements resembling Punjabi folk dance movements into her choreography, further enhancing the cultural blend.
Gubanova, 23, represents Georgia in international figure skating competitions. She is a well-established name in the sport, having won the European Championship in 2023 and securing two European silver medals. She has also earned several podium finishes in ISU Challenger Series and Grand Prix events.
The Bollywood track Dhurandhar, released on December 5 last year, remains popular among fans in India and overseas. With Dhurandhar: The Revenge scheduled for release on March 19, the renewed spotlight on the song through Gubanova’s Olympic performance indicates that its popularity continues to grow beyond cinema screens.
