Kanpur: Kanpur-based tobacco businessman KK Mishra has denied allegations that his son Shivam Mishra was driving the Lamborghini involved in a recent road accident, asserting that the luxury vehicle was being driven by a hired chauffeur at the time of the crash.

Speaking to the media, Mishra said the car was being driven by a man identified as Mohan, while Shivam was seated inside the vehicle. He claimed that the car developed a technical fault during the journey, which led to the accident that injured a pedestrian and damaged multiple vehicles.

According to Mishra, the situation became tense when Shivam suddenly felt unwell. He alleged that one of the bouncers accompanying them broke open the driver-side door and pulled Shivam out as his condition worsened. Mishra said his son had stepped out only to inspect the vehicle along with the driver and was never behind the wheel.

“My son’s health deteriorated rapidly. By the time he reached home, he was unconscious. We immediately sent him to Delhi, where he is currently undergoing treatment under medical supervision,” Mishra said.

He maintained that his family is under immense stress due to the ongoing police investigation, Shivam’s health condition, and the damage caused to the vehicle. “We have not done anything illegal. Whatever the law requires, we will fully comply and appear whenever we are called,” he added.

Mishra’s lawyer, Dharmendra Singh Dharam, alleged inconsistencies in the police version of events. He claimed that the injured pedestrian, Taufiq Ahmed, later told the court that no proper inquiry was conducted before his statement was recorded.

Another counsel representing Shivam Mishra, Mrityunjay Mishra, echoed the family’s claims and reiterated that the Lamborghini was being driven by a hired driver and not by Shivam.

Police officials have said that the investigation is ongoing and all aspects of the incident are being examined.
