Bathinda: BJP Member of Parliament and actor Kangana Ranaut is scheduled to appear before the Bathinda district court on Friday in connection with a defamation case filed against her by Bebe Mahinder Kaur. The hearing will be conducted through video conferencing.

According to court sources, the matter listed for hearing may include deliberations on the submission of Ranaut’s passport. During the previous hearing, two witnesses presented by the complainant had recorded their statements before the court.

The case relates to comments made by Kangana Ranaut during the farmers’ protest against the now-repealed farm laws in Delhi. At the time, Ranaut had shared a post on her social media account in which she allegedly claimed that women participating in the protest were being paid ₹100 to attend demonstrations.

Bebe Mahinder Kaur, a resident of Bahadurgarh Jandian village in Bathinda district, filed the defamation complaint, alleging that the remarks were insulting and harmed her dignity.

Ranaut had earlier approached the Supreme Court seeking to quash the defamation proceedings. However, the apex court declined to entertain her petition, allowing the case to proceed before the Bathinda court.

The matter continues to draw attention due to its political and social implications, with further proceedings expected based on the court’s directions.
