Khuralgarh, February 6, 2026: Expressing deep reverence towards the great legacy of Sri Guru Ravidas Maharaj, the Punjab Government has formally launched year-long, state-wide celebrations dedicated to the forthcoming 650th Parkash Purab of the saint, to be observed in 2027.

The commemorative programmes will continue till February 20, 2027, and will include a series of religious, cultural and academic initiatives across Punjab.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann inaugurated the celebrations and announced that throughout the year, saint conferences, seminars, katha-kirtan programmes and university-level academic conferences will be organised. He also declared major infrastructure projects, including the expansion of Sri Guru Ravidas Memorial at Khuralgarh and the establishment of a Sri Guru Ravidas Bani Study Centre at Faridpur.

The Chief Minister assured that there would be no shortage of funds for projects related to the celebrations and that all directions given by the Sant Samaj would be fully implemented. He stated that the year-long programme aligns with the pro-people governance model of the state government, which prioritises education reforms, public health expansion and welfare-oriented policies.

Addressing a state-level gathering organised to mark the 649th Parkash Purab of Guru Ravidas Ji, the Chief Minister congratulated the devotees and said that spreading the message of Guru Ravidas Ji across the world is a collective responsibility. He emphasised that Guru Ravidas Ji envisioned a society free from discrimination and based on equality.

Calling himself fortunate to pay obeisance at the holy land of Khuralgarh, the Chief Minister said that the Punjab Government would leave no stone unturned in celebrating the upcoming 650th Parkash Purab on a grand scale.

He recalled that the state government had earlier organised year-long commemorations of the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, and similar comprehensive arrangements are now being made for Guru Ravidas Ji’s 650th Parkash Purab.

The Chief Minister also announced that research chairs have been established at Punjab University and Guru Nanak Dev University to promote studies on the life and philosophy of Guru Ravidas Ji.

Reiterating the government’s commitment to uplift the weaker and marginalised sections of society, the Chief Minister said that his government is working in accordance with the teachings of Guru Ravidas Ji, who dedicated his life to social justice and human equality.

He further highlighted that under the Chief Minister Health Scheme, every family in Punjab will now receive cashless treatment up to ₹10 lakh, benefitting around 65 lakh families across the state.

The Chief Minister revealed that a world-class memorial costing around ₹148 crore has been constructed at Khuralgarh, equipped with tourist facilities, parking, Minar-e-Begampura, sangat hall, modern auditorium and other amenities.

Additionally, the Punjab Government has purchased 12 acres of land at Faridpur and Naugajja in Jalandhar at a cost of ₹10 crore for setting up a state-of-the-art Sri Guru Ravidas Study Centre, which will serve as a major hub for research, education and dissemination of Guru Ravidas Ji’s teachings.

Senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia, while addressing the gathering, said he felt honoured to visit the sacred land of Khuralgarh, from where Guru Ravidas Ji gave the message of equality to humanity. He added that the Aam Aadmi Party and the Punjab Government are following the same path by ensuring equal rights to education, healthcare and opportunities for all citizens.

Several cabinet ministers, Members of Parliament, MLAs, Sant Samaj representatives and prominent personalities were present on the occasion.
