Ghaziabad: Three minor sisters were found dead after allegedly jumping from the ninth floor of their apartment building in Ghaziabad’s Bharat City area in the early hours of Wednesday, police officials said. Investigators are probing multiple angles, including the possibility of excessive engagement with an online task-based gaming application.
The incident occurred at around 2:15 am when local residents heard a loud noise and alerted the police. The victims have been identified as Nishika (16), Prachi (14), and Pakhi (12), Superintendent of Police Atul Kumar Singh confirmed.
According to preliminary findings, the sisters had been spending extended periods on their mobile phones and were suspected to be deeply involved in a Korean-origin online task-based gaming platform. However, police have not yet established any direct link between the application and the suspected suicides.
During a search of the family’s apartment, police recovered a one-page handwritten note addressed to their parents, stating only, “Mummy, Papa, sorry.” The note has been taken into custody and sent for examination as part of the investigation.
Police said the girls were rushed to a hospital in Loni after the incident, where doctors declared them dead on arrival. Family members are being questioned to understand the circumstances leading up to the incident.
Authorities have also seized the victims’ mobile phones and are analysing call records, messages, and application usage. Cyber experts may be roped in to examine their digital activity in detail, officials added.
The exact reason behind the deaths remains unclear, and police said further conclusions will be drawn after post-mortem reports and forensic analysis are completed.
