Islamabad (Pakistan): At least 15 Pakistani soldiers and 92 militants were killed during multiple counter-terrorism operations carried out by security forces in Pakistan’s restive Balochistan province, the army said in a statement on Sunday.
According to the military, the operations were launched following a series of coordinated attacks by militants belonging to ethnic Baloch armed groups at several locations across the province on Saturday. The militants allegedly attempted to destabilise the region through violent activities in and around Quetta, Mastung, Nushki, Dalbandin, Kharan, Panjgur, Tump, Gwadar, and Pasni.
The army said security forces and law enforcement agencies, operating on high alert, responded swiftly and successfully thwarted the attacks. “After prolonged, intense and daring clearance operations across Balochistan, 92 terrorists, including three suicide bombers, were neutralised,” the statement said.
The military also claimed that militants targeted civilians during the attacks, resulting in the deaths of 18 people, including women, children, elderly individuals, and labourers.
During the counter-terror operations and subsequent gun battles, 15 soldiers lost their lives, the army added. It said sanitisation operations are continuing in the affected areas to eliminate any remaining threats.
The army further stated that the instigators, perpetrators, facilitators, and abettors involved in the attacks would be brought to justice. It added that the ongoing counter-terror campaign, approved by the Federal Apex Committee under Pakistan’s National Action Plan, would continue with full intensity.
Separately, the army said that 41 militants linked to the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were killed on Saturday during security operations in the Panjgur and Harnai districts. With these developments, the total number of militants killed in the ongoing campaign in Balochistan over the past two days has reached 133, the statement said.
Violence in Balochistan has intensified in recent years. According to the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS), fatalities in the province increased from 787 to 956 last year, marking a rise of nearly 22 per cent. Meanwhile, the Pak Institute for Peace Studies reported that terror attacks and violent incidents across Pakistan rose by 34 per cent in 2025, with 699 attacks recorded nationwide.
