Jaipur: A court in Jaipur on Saturday remanded a 28-year-old man accused of spying for Pakistan’s intelligence agency, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), to four days of police custody for further interrogation.

The accused, identified as Jhabararam, was arrested by the Rajasthan Police’s Intelligence branch on Friday and produced before the court on Saturday. The court granted police custody until February 4 to allow investigators to probe his alleged role in leaking sensitive information related to the Indian Army.

According to Additional Director General (Intelligence) Prafull Kumar, preliminary investigations revealed that the accused was in regular contact with handlers based in Pakistan through social media platforms. He was allegedly honey-trapped and offered financial incentives to share classified and strategically sensitive information, the officer said.

Jhabararam was detained from Jaisalmer and brought to Jaipur’s Central Interrogation Centre, where he is being jointly questioned by intelligence and security agencies. Officials said sufficient material evidence was gathered during questioning, following which a case was registered against him under the Official Secrets Act, 1923, leading to his formal arrest.

Further investigation is underway to determine the extent of information shared and to identify possible links or networks connected to the case.
