Mumbai: Mumbai Police have registered a case against four individuals after a man sustained severe injuries by falling into an open pit dug for road repair work in Borivali East, an official said on Friday.

The incident occurred in December last year on Carter Road Number 7, but the victim, 46-year-old aggregator cab driver Parmanand Maurya, approached the police only this week after recovering from his injuries. Based on his complaint, the Kasturba Marg police station registered a case on Wednesday.

According to Maurya, a contracting firm had excavated a section of the road for repair work but failed to install warning signs, barricades or safety indicators. While walking towards his nearby residence, he allegedly fell into the uncovered pit, suffering fractures to four ribs and injuries to his neck.

Maurya stated that he spent around ₹6 lakh on medical treatment following the accident. Police said those named in the FIR include BSCPL Infrastructure Ltd founder Manav Shah, chairperson Pradip Pandey and contractor Yash Mehta, along with another individual linked to the work.

No arrests have been made so far, and further investigation is underway, the official added.
