New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate two major National Highway projects worth nearly Rs 11,000 crore in Delhi on Sunday. The event will take place at Rohini around 12:30 PM, according to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

The projects include the Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway and the Alipur–Dichaon Kalan stretch of Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II). Both have been developed as part of the government’s efforts to ease traffic congestion in the capital and improve regional connectivity.

The 10.1 km Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway, built at a cost of Rs 5,360 crore, will provide multi-modal connectivity to Yashobhoomi, Delhi Metro’s Blue and Orange lines, the upcoming Bijwasan railway station, and the Dwarka cluster bus depot. This section is divided into two packages: the 5.9 km Shiv Murti to Dwarka Sector-21 Road Under Bridge stretch, and the 4.2 km stretch from Dwarka Sector-21 to the Delhi–Haryana border, offering direct access to UER-II. The Haryana section of the expressway, covering 19 km, was inaugurated earlier in March 2024.

The second project, UER-II, developed at a cost of Rs 5,580 crore, includes the Alipur–Dichaon Kalan stretch along with new links to Bahadurgarh and Sonipat. This road will decongest Delhi’s Inner and Outer Ring Roads and reduce traffic pressure on key intersections like Mukarba Chowk, Dhaula Kuan, and NH-09. The new spurs are expected to strengthen industrial connectivity, reduce city traffic, and expedite goods movement across the NCR.

Prime Minister Modi will also address a public gathering during the inauguration. The projects reflect the government’s vision of building world-class infrastructure to improve mobility and quality of life in the national capital region.
