New Delhi: The Special Cell of the Delhi Police has arrested a 40-year-old man from Sikkim in connection with a massive drug trafficking racket involving narcotics worth approximately Rs 13,000 crore, sources said on Monday.

The accused has been identified as Tilak Prasad Sharma, who is alleged to have played a key role in supplying cannabis sourced from Thailand to an international drug syndicate operating across several Indian states.

According to sources, the arrest is linked to a major multi-state crackdown conducted on October 2, 2024, during which law enforcement agencies seized cocaine and cannabis valued at around Rs 13,000 crore from multiple locations in Delhi, Gujarat, and Punjab.

Investigators revealed that the syndicate’s alleged kingpin, Virendra Basoya, is currently based abroad. A Red Corner Notice has been issued against his son, Rishabh Basoya, who is also reportedly outside the country. Efforts are underway to track and extradite the absconding accused.

Officials said that more than 15 individuals were arrested during the coordinated operation, which uncovered the extensive scale and international links of the drug network. Further investigation is ongoing to identify additional members and financial channels associated with the syndicate.
