Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini described the Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G) as a strong foundation for improving the living standards of hardworking labourers. He said the scheme, introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, guarantees every worker the right to work with dignity, timely wages, social respect, and a secure livelihood. The Chief Minister was addressing labourers at the state-level VB-G RAM G conference held at the Indradhanush Auditorium in Panchkula. Development and Panchayats Minister  Krishan Lal Panwar and Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Krishna Bedi were also present.

Saini said that under the new law, the statutory employment guarantee has been increased from 100 days to 125 days. Additionally, states can suspend work for up to 60 days during sowing and harvesting seasons, ensuring workers continue to receive employment during this period. In Haryana, each worker is expected to receive at least an additional Rs 10,000 annually, while weekly wage payments have been introduced to ensure timely disbursement and prevent fake work or payments. The scope of work under the scheme has also been expanded, creating more opportunities for labourers and supporting rural development.

The Chief Minister criticized the opposition Congress party and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Punjab, alleging that they were attempting to mislead people about the scheme for political purposes. He highlighted that the current government has strengthened worker rights and ensured greater transparency in payments compared to past regimes. Sh Saini also interacted with scheme beneficiaries from various districts, who expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Modi and the Chief Minister, stating that the VB-G RAM G scheme would increase employment days from 100 to 125, improve income, and enhance overall living standards in rural areas.
