Ludhiana: The Ludhiana Commissionerate Police have dismantled a major extortion racket with alleged links to fugitive gangster Goldy Brar, arresting 10 individuals during a targeted operation carried out over the past three weeks.

Police officials said the group was involved in a range of organised criminal activities, including illegal arms supply, extortion and the planning of targeted killings aimed at spreading fear and disrupting public order in Punjab.

During the operation, investigators recovered a cache of high-end weapons, including two Austrian-made Glock pistols and several other foreign-manufactured firearms. In total, more than a dozen sophisticated weapons were seized from the accused, highlighting the scale and capability of the network.

Multiple cases have been registered against the arrested individuals under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act. Authorities said further questioning is underway to identify the network’s remaining members and trace the source of the illegal weapons.

Senior police officials said the crackdown was part of a sustained strategy to curb the influence of organised crime and gangster-linked operations in the state. Efforts are now focused on tracking down absconding associates and disrupting financial and logistical channels used by the group.

Punjab Police reiterated its commitment to maintaining law and order, stating that decisive action would continue against criminal syndicates seeking to destabilise peace and security across the state.
