Amritsar: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), during a meeting of its Executive Committee held at the SGPC office under the leadership of its president Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, passed a condemnation resolution against AAP leader and former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi over her alleged derogatory remarks about Sikh Gurus. The committee decided to initiate strict legal action against her for hurting Sikh sentiments.

Addressing the media, Advocate Dhami said that the use of objectionable language against Sikh Gurus by an elected representative during a session of the Delhi Legislative Assembly is deeply offensive and has caused serious hurt to Sikh religious sentiments. He stated that such remarks reflect a distorted mindset and will not be tolerated, adding that SGPC will pursue the matter legally.

During the meeting, the SGPC also lauded the achievements of Sikh students. Six students from the Nishchay Administrative Services Training Centre were praised for clearing the PCS preliminary examination, while a student of the Nishchay Academy of Judicial Services, Bahadurgarh (Patiala) was appreciated for qualifying the Law Officer examination conducted by the Punjab Subordinate Services Selection Board. Advocate Dhami said the SGPC has consistently worked to ensure Sikh youth succeed in competitive examinations and reach positions of responsibility to serve society in line with Guru Sahib’s principles.

Meanwhile, Advocate Dhami also strongly condemned an incident involving a youth violating religious decorum at the sacred Sarovar of Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib. He emphasized that the holy shrine follows a strict and sacred code of conduct, and any act violating this maryada is unacceptable. Such incidents, he said, deeply hurt Sikh sentiments. He appealed to people of all faiths to respect the sanctity and religious traditions while visiting Sri Harmandir Sahib.

The Executive Committee meeting also reviewed routine administrative matters related to SGPC management, gurdwaras, the trust department, and other allied departments.

The meeting was attended by Senior Vice President Raghujit Singh Virk, Junior Vice President Baldev Singh Kalyan, General Secretary Sher Singh Mandwala, Chief Secretary Kulwant Singh Mannan, along with executive members, office-bearers, legal advisors, and senior officials of the SGPC.
