Hoshiarpur: A devastating road accident claimed the lives of four young men in Hoshiarpur on Saturday morning after their car collided head-on with a Punjab Roadways bus near Town Road. One other passenger sustained serious injuries and is undergoing treatment.

Police said the crash involved an i20 car carrying five youths, all believed to be residents of Himachal Pradesh. The group was reportedly travelling to the airport to receive a friend when the incident occurred. As the vehicle approached the Town Road area, it struck an oncoming state transport bus with tremendous force.

The impact left the car mangled beyond recognition, killing four occupants instantly. The injured survivor was rescued from the wreckage and rushed to the Civil Hospital in Hoshiarpur along with the bodies of the deceased.

The collision caused chaos at the site, prompting local residents to alert emergency services. Police and ambulance teams reached the scene shortly thereafter and began rescue and traffic control operations.

Investigators have begun recording statements from the bus driver and eyewitnesses to establish the sequence of events leading up to the crash. Preliminary findings suggest that poor visibility due to dense fog may have played a role, as the area was blanketed in heavy mist at the time of the accident.

Authorities said a detailed probe is underway to determine whether factors such as speed, road conditions or driver error contributed to the tragedy.
