New Phone Video Surfaces in Minnesota ICE Shooting, Fuels Protests and Probe

Minnesota: Fresh footage released from a US immigration officer’s cellphone has intensified scrutiny of a fatal shooting involving a Minnesota woman, deepening public anger and widening the rift between state authorities and the Trump administration.

The White House on Friday reshared the video on social media, drawing renewed attention to the killing of 37-year-old Renee Good, who was shot while sitting in her car during an encounter with officers from US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) earlier this week. The incident has sparked days of protests across the country.

In the newly surfaced clip, Good appears calm and cooperative in her final moments. “That’s fine, dude, I’m not mad at you,” she is heard saying to the officer just before gunfire erupts as her vehicle moves forward.

The 47-second video, first published by Alpha News and later verified by Reuters, is expected to further inflame tensions between Minnesota officials and federal authorities, who have offered sharply conflicting narratives about what led to the shooting in a Minneapolis residential area on Wednesday.

Minnesota officials announced on Friday that they have launched an independent criminal investigation into the incident. This followed claims by some state law enforcement figures that the FBI had declined to assist with the state-led probe, a move that has drawn criticism from local leaders.

The footage begins with ICE officer Jonathan Ross exiting his vehicle and approaching Good’s Honda SUV, which is partially obstructing traffic. A black dog can be seen briefly in the backseat through an open rear window. As Ross circles the vehicle, Good reverses slightly and speaks to him through her open window in a casual tone.

Ross then walks behind the SUV to record the license plate and encounters Good’s wife, Becca Good, who is standing nearby and filming the interaction on her own phone. She tells the officer that the vehicle’s registration will not change and asserts their US citizenship, later making a sarcastic remark toward the agent.

Moments later, another ICE officer approaches the driver’s side and orders Renee Good to exit the vehicle. The video shows her briefly reversing before shifting into forward gear and turning the steering wheel, seemingly attempting to leave the scene.

As the SUV begins to move, Ross, now positioned near the front of the vehicle, can be heard exclaiming “Whoa!” before multiple shots ring out. The camera shakes, and the vehicle exits the frame, later appearing as it rolls down the street. A voice off-camera is heard uttering a profane remark.

The release of the footage has intensified public debate over the use of force by federal agents and accountability in immigration enforcement operations. Demonstrations have continued in several cities, with protesters demanding transparency and justice in Renee Good’s death.

Federal authorities have yet to provide a detailed response to the latest video, while state investigators say they are continuing to gather evidence and witness statements as part of their inquiry.
