Mumbai: A tragic fire in a residential area of Mumbai’s Goregaon claimed the lives of three members of a family in the early hours of Saturday, officials from the city’s fire services confirmed.
The incident occurred in Bhagat Singh Nagar, where flames broke out in a single-storey dwelling located along Rajaram Lane. The Mumbai Fire Brigade received an alert about the blaze shortly after 3 am and dispatched teams to the site.
Preliminary information suggests that the fire spread through electrical wiring and household items on both the ground and upper levels of the structure. Before fire engines reached the location, nearby residents attempted to control the flames using buckets of water.
Firefighters later disconnected the power supply to prevent further escalation and secured the area. The three occupants of the house were found unconscious and were immediately transported to Trauma Care Hospital. Doctors, however, pronounced them dead on arrival.
The victims were identified as 48-year-old Sanjog Pawaskar and his two children, Harshada Pawaskar, aged 19, and Kushal Pawaskar, aged 12.
Authorities said the exact cause of the fire has not yet been determined and an investigation is underway to establish how the blaze started.
