Spiritual: Every year, Krishna Janmashtami is celebrated with great joy and happiness. This festival is considered one of the most important in Hinduism, towards which people hold deep faith. It is observed annually on the Ashtami Tithi of Krishna Paksha in the month of Bhadrapada. This festival marks the birth anniversary of Lord Shri Krishna. This year, Krishna Janmashtami will be celebrated on 16 August 2025.

Janmashtami in Rohini Nakshatra

According to religious and mythological beliefs, Lord Krishna was born in Kansa’s prison in Mathura. His birth took place on the Ashtami Tithi of the Bhadrapada month, on a Wednesday, at midnight, under the Rohini Nakshatra. Because of this, devotees often remain in doubt about the exact timing and method of worship on Janmashtami.

Shubh Muhurat of Krishna Janmashtami

Worshiping on Janmashtami during Rohini Nakshatra is considered highly auspicious by scholars and devotees. However, in 2025, Rohini Nakshatra will not coincide with Janmashtami on 16 August. In such a situation, those who celebrate Janmashtami on the basis of Rohini Nakshatra will observe the fast on Sunday, 17 August, while fasting and worship according to Ashtami Tithi will be performed on 16 August.

On 16 August, the midnight Janmashtami Puja will take place between 12:05 AM to 12:47 AM, giving devotees a total of 43 minutes for worship. Rohini Nakshatra will begin on 17 August at 4:38 PM and end on 18 August at 3:17 AM.
