Amritsar: Amritsar Police on Friday arrested Davinder Singh Verka, a close associate of former Punjab minister Bikram Singh Majithia, for allegedly obstructing the work of a Vigilance Bureau team during a raid at Majithia’s residence in June 2025.

According to police officials, Verka was taken into custody in connection with the incident in which the vigilance team was allegedly prevented from carrying out its official duties during the raid at the former minister’s premises. He was produced before a local court, which remanded him to two days of police custody for further questioning.

Sources said Davinder Singh Verka is employed at Bikram Singh Majithia’s residence in Amritsar and was present at the premises at the time of the vigilance action. Investigators are now probing his exact role in the incident and whether others were also involved in obstructing the raid. Police officials said further action will be taken based on the outcome of Verka’s custodial interrogation.
