Ferozepur (Punjab): Panic prevailed at the Ferozepur judicial complex on Thursday morning after authorities received a bomb threat, leading to the immediate evacuation of the court premises as a safety precaution.
Sources said the threat was sent through an email addressed to the official email ID of the District and Sessions Judge. Acting swiftly, court proceedings were suspended and the entire complex was evacuated. Security teams also cleared parking areas and other sensitive spots within the premises to eliminate any potential risk.
A massive security operation was launched following the alert. Superintendent of Police (Detective) Manjeet Singh said nearly 150 police personnel were deployed to carry out an extensive search of the court complex. Bomb disposal squads and other security agencies were also pressed into service to thoroughly check the area.
Officials have not yet revealed details about the sender or the source of the threatening email. Authorities said investigations are ongoing and all possible angles are being examined.
No suspicious object or untoward incident had been reported till the filing of this report. However, security has been tightened in and around the judicial complex to prevent any escalation.
