Chandigarh: The confidence and morale of women in Punjab are set to rise significantly as the Bhagwant Mann-led state government has approved a historic decision to provide 33% reservation for women in government jobs. The decision was cleared by the state Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and will apply to Group A, B, C, and D posts, opening new opportunities for women while strengthening the state’s administrative structure.
Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur said the move will ensure greater participation of women in governance and decision-making roles. She added that empowering women through employment is key to building a stronger and more inclusive Punjab.
Experts believe this policy will help bridge the gender gap in employment, as women’s workforce participation in Punjab remains below the national average. The Mann government’s decision is being seen as a major step toward social equality, economic empowerment of women, and realizing the vision of a progressive and vibrant “Rangla Punjab.”
