Patiala: In a significant operation against organised crime, the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) of Punjab Police has apprehended two key members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang on the Patiala–Ambala Highway, near Shambhu village.
According to officials, initial investigations indicate that the duo had escaped to Nepal shortly after carrying out a murder. They are believed to have returned to India following instructions from handlers based overseas, with plans to execute another high-profile crime in Punjab.
The suspects, both with long-standing criminal backgrounds, are linked to more than 15 serious offences registered across Punjab, Delhi, Rajasthan, and Gujarat. These include cases under stringent criminal laws. They are also prime accused in the recent killing of Bharat Ratan, also known as Vicky, in Fazilka.
During the arrest, police recovered a Glock 9mm pistol along with six live cartridges. An FIR has been lodged at the State Crime Police Station, SAS Nagar.
Punjab Police officials reiterated their commitment to cracking down on organised crime and dismantling such networks operating in the state. “We are determined to bring all such offenders to justice,” said an AGTF spokesperson.
