Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann will hoist the national flag at the state-level function in Faridkot to mark the 79th Independence Day.
A spokesperson from the Chief Minister’s Office confirmed the announcement, adding that Mann has assigned his Cabinet colleagues to preside over celebrations in different district headquarters across the state.
Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan will lead the event in Ferozepur, while Deputy Speaker Jai Kishan Rouri will hoist the flag in Fazilka. Finance Minister Harpal Cheema will officiate in Rupnagar, and New and Renewable Energy Minister Aman Arora in Ludhiana. Social Justice Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur will be in SBS Nagar, Industry Minister Sanjeev Arora in Sangrur, and Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh in Amritsar.
Other ministers will preside over functions in various districts, including Housing and Urban Development Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian in Gurdaspur, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak in Tarn Taran, Transport Minister Laljeet Singh Bhullar in Mansa, Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains in Moga, Mining Minister Barinder Goyal in Bathinda, Rural Development Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sondh in Jalandhar, Local Government Minister Ravjot Singh in Pathankot, Agriculture Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian in SAS Nagar, Horticulture Minister Mohinder Bhagat in Hoshiarpur, and PWD Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO in Patiala.
