New Delhi— Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday described 2025 as a year of major achievements for India, saying the country made its presence felt globally across national security, sports, science and culture. Addressing the final edition of his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat for the year, Modi highlighted Operation Sindoor as a defining moment that underscored India’s uncompromising stand on national security.

The prime minister said Operation Sindoor emerged as a symbol of pride for every Indian, with scenes of devotion towards Maa Bharti witnessed across the country. He noted that the operation sent a clear message to the world that India would not compromise when it comes to safeguarding its security and sovereignty.

Reflecting on the year gone by, Modi said India’s impact was visible on the world stage throughout 2025, whether in national security, sports, scientific innovation or global platforms. He also recalled the completion of 150 years of the national song Vande Mataram, saying citizens responded enthusiastically to his call to share their thoughts and messages under the hashtag #VandeMataram150.

Calling 2025 a memorable year for Indian sports, the prime minister said the men’s cricket team lifted the ICC Champions Trophy, while the women’s team won the World Cup for the first time. He also praised the historic victory of India’s women in the Blind T20 World Cup, the Asia Cup T20 triumph, and the strong medal haul by para-athletes at the World Championships.

Modi said India made significant strides in science and space during the year, highlighting Shubhanshu Shukla’s feat of becoming the first Indian to reach the International Space Station. He added that nations across the globe are increasingly looking towards India with hope, largely driven by the country’s youth, innovation and expanding technological capabilities.

Touching upon environmental and cultural milestones, the prime minister said the number of cheetahs in India crossed 30 in 2025. He also spoke about the convergence of faith, culture and heritage during the year, citing the Prayagraj Mahakumbh at the beginning of 2025 and the Dhwajarohan ceremony at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya towards the end of the year as moments that filled the nation with pride.
