Udaipur, Rajasthan: A manager working with a private IT company has alleged that she was gang-raped inside a moving car after accepting a lift home from a New Year party, leading to the arrest of three people, including the firm’s CEO, police said.
The incident took place following a party held at a private hotel in Udaipur on December 20. The gathering began around 9 pm and continued until nearly 1.30 am. After most attendees had left, the woman was reportedly offered a ride home by the company’s CEO, a senior female executive, and the executive’s husband.
According to the police, the woman got into the car, where the CEO and the executive’s husband were already seated. During the journey, the accused allegedly purchased smoking material and offered it to her. She reportedly lost consciousness soon after consuming it.
In her complaint, the woman stated that when she partially regained awareness, she found the CEO molesting her. She later alleged that all three occupants of the car sexually assaulted her while the vehicle was in motion. She was dropped at her residence around 5 am.
After fully regaining consciousness, the woman noticed injuries on her private parts and found some of her personal belongings missing. She approached the police the following morning and lodged a formal complaint.
Based on preliminary findings, the police arrested the three accused — the company’s CEO Jayesh, co-accused Gaurav, and his wife Shilpa. Udaipur Superintendent of Police Yogesh Goyal said the medical examination revealed injury marks, providing prima facie evidence of gang rape.
Police are also examining audio and video recordings from the car’s dashcam to corroborate the survivor’s statement. The accused have been produced before a court, and further investigation into the case is ongoing.
