Ludhiana: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislator from the Ludhiana South constituency, Rajinder Pal Kaur Chhina, sustained serious injuries in a road accident while returning from Delhi late Tuesday night.
The incident occurred near the Khanauri border when the MLA’s Innova vehicle reportedly lost control and struck a road divider. Along with Chhina, her security gunman was also injured in the crash.
Eyewitnesses said the impact was severe, leaving the vehicle badly damaged. The injured were rushed to a hospital in Kaithal, Haryana, where doctors provided emergency treatment. Due to the extent of her facial injuries, Chhina was later referred to a hospital in Ludhiana for advanced care.
Medical officials have described her condition as critical. The gunman’s injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening.
Rajinder Pal Kaur Chhina entered the Punjab Assembly in 2022 after winning the Ludhiana South seat as an AAP candidate.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances that led to the accident.
