The ceremony was conducted by the Bishop of Delhi, Rt. Rev. Dr. Paul Swarup, and included a special prayer offered for the Prime Minister. The service highlighted themes of peace, compassion and goodwill associated with the Christmas season.
Sharing his thoughts later on social media, Mr. Modi said the service carried a universal message of love and harmony. He also extended Christmas greetings to people across the country, expressing hope that the teachings of Jesus Christ would continue to inspire unity and understanding in society.
The Prime Minister’s presence at the cathedral reflects his continued engagement with India’s Christian community. In recent years, he has participated in several religious and community events, including Easter celebrations at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in 2023 and Christmas gatherings hosted at his official residence the same year.
In 2024, Mr. Modi attended a Christmas dinner hosted by Minister George Kurian and took part in a programme organised by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India. Observers note that such appearances form part of his broader outreach efforts aimed at strengthening ties with diverse faith groups across the country.
