New Delhi: Passengers travelling by train are set to face higher ticket prices as Indian Railways has announced a revision in its fare structure, effective from December 26, 2025.
Railway officials said the fare hike will apply across multiple travel classes, leading to an increase in ticket costs for passengers booking journeys on or after the revised date. The move is aimed at boosting revenue and supporting operational expenses.
According to authorities, the revised fares are expected to generate an additional ₹600 crore in revenue for the national transporter. The updated pricing will automatically reflect in the ticketing system once the new structure comes into force.
Commuters have been advised to factor in the revised fares while planning their upcoming journeys, especially during the year-end travel rush.
