New Delhi: At least 129 flights were cancelled at the Indira Gandhi International Airport on Saturday as dense fog continued to disrupt air traffic, officials said. The cancellations included 66 arriving flights and 63 departures, highlighting the severe impact of low visibility conditions on flight operations.

Flight movement at Delhi airport and several other airports across northern India has been affected for the past few days due to persistent fog, leading to delays and cancellations. Low visibility during early morning and late-night hours has posed significant challenges for airlines and air traffic controllers.

Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), which operates the country’s busiest airport, said that Low Visibility Procedures were in place to manage operations safely. In a post on social media platform X, DIAL stated that while such procedures were currently being implemented, flight operations were functioning as per established protocols.

The Indira Gandhi International Airport handles nearly 1,300 flights daily under normal conditions. However, adverse weather has significantly reduced operational efficiency, causing inconvenience to thousands of passengers.
