Muscat– Oman on Thursday conferred its highest national honour, The First Class of the Order of Oman, on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in recognition of his significant contribution to strengthening bilateral ties between the two countries.

The prestigious award has previously been bestowed on global leaders and dignitaries including Queen Elizabeth II, former Japanese Emperor Akihito, Nelson Mandela and King Abdullah II of Jordan.

This marks Prime Minister Modi’s 29th international honour, coming shortly after he was awarded Ethiopia’s highest civilian recognition, the Great Honour Nishan of Ethiopia.

Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Oman coincides with the completion of 70 years of diplomatic relations between the two nations. The visit is aimed at further deepening strategic cooperation in key sectors such as trade, investment, energy, defence and cultural exchange.

India and Oman share long-standing historical and economic ties, and the visit is expected to provide fresh momentum to bilateral engagement across multiple domains.
