Chandigarh: Lawyers practising at the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Monday went on strike, protesting the alleged harassment, assault and criminal trespass against an advocate and the failure of police authorities to register an FIR in the matter.

The decision was taken after an emergent meeting of the General House of the Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association. Gagandeep Jammu, Honorary Secretary of the Bar Association, said the meeting was convened following a complaint by Amit, an advocate and member of the Bar, who alleged that officials of CIA-1, Hisar were involved in the incident.

The General House also expressed concern over what it described as inaction by the Mohali and Nayagaon police, despite representations being made to the Advocate General of Punjab. Members of the Bar deliberated on the issue and voiced strong dissatisfaction over the absence of any formal police action.

After discussions, the General House unanimously resolved to abstain from work with effect from December 15, 2025, citing the non-registration of an FIR against the concerned CIA-1, Hisar officials at Nayagaon police station in Mohali district.

The Bar Association said the General House will be convened again on Tuesday to review the situation and decide on the future course of action depending on developments in the case.
