New Delhi: The Election Commission has extended the timeline for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in six states and Union territories after receiving requests from their chief electoral officers. A revised schedule has now been issued for Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and Uttar Pradesh.

The enumeration process in all six regions was scheduled to end on Thursday, with draft rolls set for publication on December 16. The new timelines allow more time for completing the verification process.

For Tamil Nadu and Gujarat, the enumeration period will now run until December 14, and the draft rolls will be published on December 19. In Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the deadline has been extended to December 18, with draft rolls set for release on December 23. Uttar Pradesh has received the longest extension, with enumeration continuing until December 26 and draft rolls to be published on December 31.

The EC also confirmed that the enumeration period for Goa, Puducherry, Lakshadweep, Rajasthan and West Bengal will end on Thursday as originally planned, and their draft rolls will be published on December 16. Kerala’s schedule was revised earlier, with the process there ending on December 18 and draft rolls due on December 23.

To ensure no eligible voter is excluded, the EC has urged new electors to file Form 6 either through block-level officers or digitally via the ECINet app or website. The final electoral rolls will be published in February next year.
