Australia: An Australian court has handed down a 25-year prison sentence to Rajwinder Singh, a man from Moga in Punjab, for the murder of an Australian woman in a case that drew international attention and triggered a months-long manhunt across two countries.
Singh had been the prime suspect in the killing and fled Australia shortly after the incident, returning to India in an apparent bid to evade arrest. His disappearance prompted a coordinated effort between Australian authorities and Indian law-enforcement agencies.
The breakthrough came when Delhi Police tracked him down and took him into custody, acting on an international request issued by Australia. After completing legal formalities, Singh was extradited and handed over to Australian officers to stand trial.
