Chandigarh: The ongoing infighting within the Punjab Congress intensified on Monday after senior leader and MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa issued a legal notice to Dr. Navjot Kaur Sidhu, wife of former minister and ex-cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu. The action follows a recent television interview in which Dr. Sidhu made serious allegations against Randhawa.
Through his counsel, Randhawa has demanded that Dr. Sidhu issue a public apology within seven days. The notice warns that failure to do so will result in strict legal proceedings.
The dispute escalated after Dr. Sidhu alleged that Randhawa had links with gangsters—an accusation that quickly triggered a political storm across the state. Randhawa refuted the claims, calling them “false, fabricated and defamatory,” and asserted that the remarks had caused significant harm to his public reputation and political standing.
In the notice, Randhawa stressed that he would not allow his image to be tarnished and made it clear that any further delay in issuing an apology would lead to firm legal action.
