Amritsar: Senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader and former MLA Virsa Singh Valtoha carried out voluntary service at the Golden Temple after being declared a “Tankhaiya” by Sri Akal Takht Sahib for allegedly making unfounded remarks against revered Sikh figures.

According to the directive, Valtoha has been assigned religious punishment that includes performing seva at all major Takhts—Sri Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar, Sri Darbar Sahib in Tarn Taran, Takht Sri Damdama Sahib in Talwandi Sabo, and Takht Sri Keshgarh Sahib in Anandpur Sahib. He is also required to recite Japji Sahib, Benti Chaupai, and Ramkali Ki Vaar for 11 consecutive days.

In addition, he must offer deg and contribute to the golak as part of the disciplinary action.

The Akal Takht also lifted the 10-year restriction imposed on Valtoha in 2024 but issued a strict final warning, cautioning him against repeating such conduct in the future.
