Amritsar — Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, accompanied by six cabinet ministers from the Bharatiya Janata Party, arrived in Amritsar on Monday to offer prayers at the Golden Temple as part of the 350th commemorative events. The visit drew significant attention, with heavy security deployed in and around the shrine complex.

Gupta landed at Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport, where she and her delegation were greeted with bouquets and garlands by BJP workers. Visuals from the airport showed the chief minister walking out under tight security before proceeding directly to the Golden Temple.

Earlier in the day, BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa shared photos from inside the aircraft, featuring Gupta and ministers Parvesh Verma, Ashish Sood, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Ravinder Indraj Singh, Kapil Misgra, and Pankaj Kumar Singh en route to Amritsar. In a post on X, Sirsa wrote that the group was travelling to offer “Ardas and Shukrana” for the successful organisation of the 350th martyrdom commemorations of Guru Tegh Bahadur.

At the shrine, Gupta bowed her head and prayed at the sanctum. In a post shared later, she expressed gratitude for being able to pay homage, saying the visit filled her with peace and reverence. She also thanked Guru Sahib for the opportunity to organise commemorative events at the Red Fort.

Sirsa, too, reflected on the spiritual experience, saying the sacred atmosphere of Amritsar brought him “immense peace” and a sense of divine presence.

Authorities had strengthened security around the Golden Temple and adjoining areas to facilitate the movement of the delegation and manage the large number of devotees expected during the commemorations.
