Ajnala: Two close associates of Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh — Kulwant Singh and Papalpreet Singh — were produced in the Ajnala court on Thursday in connection with a 2023 case. The case was filed on the complaint of Varinder Singh, who alleged that he was kidnapped and later assaulted by the accused.

Both men were already lodged in jail in another case and were brought to court on production warrants for the hearing. During the proceedings, the police sought five days of custody, arguing that custodial questioning was needed to collect evidence and track digital footprints. After hearing arguments from both sides, the judge granted a two-day police remand instead of the five days requested.

Police officials said that 12 accused have been arrested in the case so far, but no significant recovery has been made yet. Investigators plan to question the accused about their mobile phones, locations during the incident, and other potential evidence to strengthen the case.
