He announced the payment of 36 months of salary arrears with held during the previous government’s tenure—to 93 teachers working in various government colleges, including the Baba Hira Singh Bhattal Institute of Engineering and Technology. This decision is crucial as it follows the tragic suicide of a teacher due to this same salary crisis. The Chief Minister held a special meeting to meet with the affected teachers and the family of the teacher who committed suicide, assuring them of immediate relief.
CM Mann listened intently to the teachers’ problems in the detailed meeting. The most poignant moment was the presence of the two children of the teacher who committed suicide under the stress of unpaid salary and debt. The Chief Minister personally met the family, assuring them of all possible help.
