Amritsar (Punjab): Passengers at Chandigarh and Amritsar airports faced major disruption on Thursday morning after a technical glitch in the check-in system caused widespread delays in flight operations. The malfunction led to long queues, confused passengers and several flights departing hours behind schedule.

IndiGo flights were hit the hardest. By 11 am, nearly seven departures from Chandigarh were delayed as airport staff struggled to manage the chaos triggered by the system failure.

Flights bound for major cities saw significant rescheduling. The 5:15 am Mumbai flight took off at 8:05 am, while the 5:20 am service to Delhi was pushed to 8:20 am. The Hyderabad flight, scheduled for 6:25 am, departed at 9:15 am. The 8 am Bengaluru flight took off at 9:55 am. Services to Lucknow, Patna and Jaipur were also delayed.

At Amritsar’s Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport, the impact was similar. Several IndiGo flights remained grounded due to the technical snag. The Mumbai-bound 6E278 and Delhi flights 6E5215 and 6E2506 were unable to depart on time.

The disruption stretched late into the night. The Amritsar–Srinagar flight (6E6164) failed to take off, forcing passengers to make alternate travel plans. The Amritsar–Pune flight (6E6129), which was scheduled for 11:50 pm, eventually departed around 4:56 am—nearly five hours late and after passengers endured an overnight wait.

Airline officials said work was underway to fix the technical issue and restore normal operations.
