Bengaluru – Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday launched three new Vande Bharat Express trains from KSR Railway Station in Bengaluru, marking another step in the Centre’s push to modernize Indian Railways. The new routes are Bengaluru–Belagavi, Amritsar–Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, and Nagpur (Ajni)–Pune.

During his visit to Karnataka’s capital, PM Modi also inaugurated the Yellow Line of the Bangalore Metro, a key corridor under the Metro Phase-2 project. Stretching over 19 km from RV Road (Ragigudda) to Bommasandra, the line includes 16 stations and has been built at a cost of approximately ₹7,160 crore. The new addition takes Bengaluru’s operational metro network to over 96 km, improving connectivity for thousands of daily commuters.

The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone for the Bangalore Metro Phase-3 project, worth over ₹15,610 crore. The 44-km network will feature 31 elevated stations and is aimed at catering to the city’s fast-growing residential, industrial, commercial, and educational hubs.

Karnataka BJP President BY Vijayendra hailed the Yellow Line inauguration as a “dream come true” for Bengaluru’s southern districts, estimating it will directly benefit over 8 lakh people.

PM Modi, who was welcomed by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah upon arrival, is also scheduled to address a public gathering later in the day.
