Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Saturday expressed deep grief over the martyrdom of two state soldiers who lost their lives during an encounter with terrorists in Kulgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
The martyred soldiers have been identified as Pritpal Singh, a resident of Manupur village in Khanna, and Harminder Singh, from Badinpur village in Mandi Gobindgarh. Both were serving in the Indian Army and were part of the operation in which they sustained fatal injuries.
In a heartfelt message, CM Mann said the state salutes the courage and sacrifice of the bravehearts who laid down their lives to safeguard the nation. “Their dedication and bravery will always be remembered,” he stated.
The Chief Minister also announced that, in line with the state government’s policy, the families of the martyrs will be provided an ex gratia of Rs 1 crore each as a mark of respect and support.
Expressing solidarity with the bereaved families, Mann assured that the state stands firmly with them in this time of grief. He added that the supreme sacrifice made by the soldiers would continue to inspire future generations to serve the country with the same valor.
