Benguluru: Bengaluru witnessed a dramatic heist on Wednesday after unidentified men, posing as Central Government officials, intercepted a cash van and escaped with nearly ₹7 crore, police said.

The robbery took place near Ashoka Pillar when the van was transporting money from a bank branch in JP Nagar. According to initial investigations, the suspects arrived in a car displaying a Government of India sticker and flagged down the cash vehicle under the pretext of checking documents.

The group allegedly forced the van staff into their car along with the cash. They then drove towards Dairy Circle, where the staff members were released before the suspects sped away with the money. Police estimate the stolen amount to be around ₹7 crore.

CCTV footage from nearby locations is being reviewed to track the vehicle’s route and identify the culprits.

A senior police officer said multiple teams have been deployed across the city, and checkpoints have been strengthened to trace the gang. “Surveillance has been intensified and we will arrest them at the earliest,” the officer added.
