Koppal(Karnataka): A 39-year-old woman was allegedly gangraped by four men in Karnataka’s Koppal district, police said on Monday. All four accused, including the man known to the survivor, were arrested within hours of the incident.
According to the complaint, the woman had approached one of the accused for financial help. He promised to provide ₹5,000 and asked her to meet him in Kushtagi taluk on Sunday. When she arrived, he took her on a motorcycle to Yelburga, claiming he would hand over the money there.
Police said that after reaching an isolated spot, three other men joined the accused. The survivor told investigators that the group allegedly offered her juice suspected to be laced with sedatives. She said the men then sexually assaulted her.
The accused fled after the assault, according to the police. The woman managed to reach a hospital and is currently undergoing treatment at a government facility. Her condition is reported to be stable.
A case has been registered under Section 70 (gangrape) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Police said all four accused were taken into custody late Sunday night, and further investigation is underway.
