Tarn Taran: Harmeet Singh Sandhu, the candidate from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), is inching closer to victory in the Tarn Taran Assembly bypoll, with his lead continuing to grow in each round of vote counting. Shiromani Akali Dal’s Sukhwinder Kaur Randhawa, who had initially led in the first three rounds, has since slipped to second place and is now trailing behind.

As the vote count progresses, Sandhu’s lead is widening, signaling a possible win for the AAP in this crucial contest. Mandeep Singh, the Independent candidate backed by Akali Dal (Waris Punjab De), Karanbir Singh Burj from the Congress, and Harjit Singh Sandhu from the BJP are the other key contenders in the race. A total of 15 candidates are vying for the vacant seat in the Punjab Assembly.

The vote counting, which began at 8 a.m. today, is expected to be completed in 16 rounds at the International College of Nursing, Piddi, which has been designated as the counting centre.

The Tarn Taran bypoll saw a voter turnout of 60.95% in Tuesday’s election, and the seat fell vacant following the untimely death of AAP MLA Kashmir Singh Sohal in June.

As the final results near, AAP workers have begun celebrating, anticipating another victory for the party in the region. If these trends hold, this bypoll victory will be another significant win for the Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab.
