Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Police intensified anti-terror operations on Sunday, conducting coordinated raids across several districts in a bid to target local terrorists linked to Pakistan and their over-ground workers (OGWs), officials confirmed.

Search and cordon operations are underway in Ramban, Kathua, and Rajouri, following intelligence reports that militants from higher-altitude regions are seeking winter hideouts in the plains.

A police spokesperson said, “Houses of relatives and known associates of active J-K-based terrorists and OGWs are being thoroughly inspected to ensure no unlawful activities are being supported.” The raids are being conducted under the supervision of Ramban Senior Superintendent of Police Arun Gupta and involve joint teams of police, Army, CRPF, and SOG units, with duty magistrates present at sensitive locations.

Earlier, similar operations in Doda district led to questioning of dozens of suspected individuals. Authorities said the ongoing drives are part of preventive and intelligence-based measures to maintain peace and security across the region.

The spokesperson emphasized that the operations have been carried out without causing major inconvenience to the public and urged citizens to cooperate with law enforcement by reporting any suspicious activity, assuring that informant identities would remain confidential.

Security forces confirmed that Kathua and Rajouri districts are also witnessing similar raids as part of the broader crackdown against anti-national elements.

Officials reiterated their commitment to neutralising terrorist networks and safeguarding the lives and property of all residents in Jammu and Kashmir.
