Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced that the state government will approach the High Court against what he termed the “unconstitutional dissolution” of the Senate and Syndicate of Panjab University, Chandigarh.

Mann said that a panel of the country’s top and specialist lawyers will be formed to fight this “high-handed” action in court. He asserted that Punjab will not remain silent on any move that undermines its constitutional rights over Panjab University.

The Chief Minister also stated that the issue will be raised in the upcoming session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha to strengthen the state’s position at the legislative level.

Mann’s remarks come amid growing tensions between the Punjab government and the Centre over the administrative control and governance of Panjab University, an institution historically linked to the state.
